Volunteer Opportunities for Student Organizations – Students Count Toward RSSW Hours

Looking For Community Outreach Ideas and Volunteer Opportunities?

Please join us on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 10 am to 1 pm.  Grassroot Givers, a local nonprofit organization, will be hosting our 9th annual community service event, A Day of Simple Giving.  The event will be held at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Road in Albany.

Volunteers will assemble and create thousands of items to benefit Grassroot Givers’ Community Store and Book Project, as well as over 50 charitable programs in the Capital Region – baked goods, soup-in-a-jar,  books, household necessities, and personal care items. These donations will go directly to low-income individuals and families, shelters and other nonprofits serving those in need.

We need your help:coordinate a collection drive for one of our 15 donation stations, leading up to the event (children’s books, personal care items, ingredients for soup or cookies, to name a few)

  • join us from 10-12 to assemble and create the donations
  • deliver donations from 12-1 to Grassroot Givers and other local nonprofits.

Please contact us to find out more about the various collection drives and/or to RSVP to the event.  If you would like a member of our organization to share more details about the event at one of your upcoming meetings, please email our Special Events and Community Outreach Coordinator, Heather Christensen at hchristensen@siena.edu or call us at (518) 542-1276.
